Rashmika Mandanna has entered the premium perfume space with the launch of her fragrance label, Dear Diary, positioning herself in India’s growing market for homegrown luxury scents. The actor aims to fill what she sees as a noticeable gap in emotionally resonant, Indian-rooted fragrances.
Drawing on her upbringing in Coorg, a region known for its coffee plantations, Mandanna’s debut collection is inspired by personal memories. She reflects on sensory moments from her childhood, like the aroma of rain-drenched earth, blooming coffee flowers, and drying beans. For her, these smells are more than memories; they’re emotions captured in scent.
With the global fragrance market crossing $50 billion, Dear Diary is a carefully timed entry into the affordable luxury segment in India. Although celebrity-led perfume lines are common abroad, few are steeped in Indian culture and ingredients. Mandanna’s vision is to create a line that reflects stories, not just perfumes.
The brand’s first collection features three fragrances, including National Crush, Irreplaceable, and Controversial. Each of them represents a distinct phase in the actor’s life. The blends feature native notes such as pink lotus, jasmine, lychee, sugarcane, and passionfruit, marrying traditional aromas with modern flair.
Dear Diary is priced at ₹599 for a 10ml bottle, ₹2,599 for a 100ml bottle, and ₹1,599 for a curated gift set called The Lollipop Set. Products are currently available exclusively through the brand’s official website.
What sets the label apart is its fusion of storytelling and self-representation. As Rashmika puts it, the goal is to create fragrances that read like chapters from real lives; authentic, heartfelt, and relatable. In an increasingly competitive D2C beauty market, Dear Diary stands out by turning nostalgia into fragrance.
