IHB cements its place in India with inaugural Graduation & First Hair Collection 2018 at HBS2018

The Institute of Hairdressers & Beauticians (IHB), for over five years now, has set the standard for hair and beauty training, education and qualifications in, both, India and Sri Lanka. Their first graduation ceremony 2017 on Indian soil, however, was held only in the month of April this year. The event also, involved a grand hair show. The Students from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore who passed the Certificate, Diploma & Advanced Diploma programs were recognized. The event was graces by VIP guests from our sponsors STREAX Hair care, Candylove salon equipment, Fashion Fever Cosmetics and SSCPL skin care. The Show - IHB Collection 1 -2018 A total of 41 male and female models took to the ramp in this gala hair show at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. The idea for the show and the direction it took were conceived by IHB instructors and international heavyweights Nayana Karunaratne and Joakim Roos, with Blossom Kochchar (IHB North Zone Head) and Yogee Indulkar (IHB West Zone Head). It was curated and executed by the IHB team in India, comprising individuals who’ve successfully completed the IHB Diploma programme. Industry experts, aspirants, and enthusiasts were treated to a world-class hair show featuring a range of styles in several categories: classic, contemporary, fantasy, and hair colour. The atmosphere at the hair show was electric, and all attendees and participants felt it was a resounding success. So much so that at the press conference which wrapped up proceedings, a media individual confidently stated that it stood shoulder to shoulder — in scale and standard — with the much-celebrated Lakme Fashion Week. IHB - Institute of Hairdressers & Beauticians The brainchild of Nayana Karunaratne, a veteran and an opinion leader in the hair and beauty industry in Sri Lanka and across Asia, the IHB has been at the forefront of producing hair and beauty professionals of a world standard in this region, with the support of global educators such as Joakim Roos and Team. What sets IHB apart, according to their students, staff, peers, and the industry as a whole, is their hands-on approach to hair and beauty education coupled with the culture of innovation that they help inculcate in those who pass through their ranks. Also, IHB programmes involve numerous practical training methods that allow students to familiarize themselves with the actual work setting that they will encounter once they embark on their professional careers. Programmes The Certificate, Diploma, and Advanced Diploma IVQ courses offered through IHB are accredited by the Organisation Mondiale Coiffure (The World Federation of Hairdressers). Also, there are several other partnerships and affiliations between the IHB and similar bodies offering global accreditation, for the Management programme it instructs. The main task of IHB is to provide intense Teacher Training programs to Academies and support them throughout the year with updated curriculum, work material and examinations. The Academies thus supported, will produce well trained Certificate and diploma level students with knowledge given in the prefered local language of the student. Such partnerships reinforce the, truly, international standard of the theoretical and practical knowledge that form the basis of IHB’s world renowned, globally-recognized qualifications. Courses are currently offered in multiple languages, across India and Sri Lanka, to ensure that hair and beauty education remains accessible to all. IHB has expanded its effort considerably over the past year or so, and their programmes will be available to those in Bangladesh and Pakistan relatively soon. IHB operates on the premise of offering an affordable international qualification to each nation based on their individual needs.
